The Tasmanian Government has proposed selling the heritage-listed Treasury Building. The Greens have proposed putting it to some other use. Labor says the Tasmanian people should be consulted before any sale. 

Should the public be consulted on public buildings?

At the Fern Tree Tavern, next Wednesday night, 11 July, we will be holding an ideas blitz on what can be done with the Treasury Building.

Three great speakers will kick things off: 

• Jeff Malpas, Distinguished Professor and philosopher at the University of Tasmania. Jeff's work includes the ethics of place and the failing character of governance.
• Nick Booth, Cultural Heritage Officer at Hobart City Council
• Anna Reynolds, Alderman at Hobart City Council

The speakers will be followed by an open discussion to garner ideas around the Treasury Building in particular - and what should be done with publicly owned building in general.

We will take notes to send to participants and the Government.
