SA Nuclear Waste Dump Referendum – Let’s Set the Record Straight
Earlier this month, a 350 people citizen jury handed the SA Government a “stunning and overwhelming rejection” of its plans to build a nuclear waste dump in South Australia.
Instead of listening, SA Premier Jay Weatherill has responded by announcing a referendum on the proposal.
The Australia Institute’s involvement focused on an area that no one else had challenged: the dodgy economic modelling and overblown estimates of how much money the dump would deliver to the state.
And we know our arguments worked: while over 70% of the citizens jury rejected the dump, 82% agreed with our analysis that the economics of the dump just doesn’t stack up.
Now we need your help to make sure our research reaches as many South Australians as possible before they vote in the referendum.
Can you donate to make sure that South Australians have all the facts before they vote on the future of their state?
